Inscribed First Edition, First Printing of this young adult novels that traces the life of a plucky wild mink named Vison. The second book by Jean Craighead George who would go on to become a Newberry winner and a leading voice in literature for young people in the second half of the 20th Century. Her co-author is her then-husband Joh. Jean C. George was the illustrator of this work, while John presumably was the content chief (a blunder as history would prove John to be the least capable of the tandem.) Inscribed by Jean Craighead George and John George on the half title with a pen sketch that is presumably Jean's handiwork. The inscription is dated 1950. Green Cloth, illustrated. The publisher's original edition with no reference the Junior Literary Guild on the title page -- only E.P. Dutton and Company is referenced. The book has tanning of the page edges and light general wear. The dust jacket has a 3" by 2" at the top of the back cover and a 1" chip at the top of the spine.
