Dedicated to "My darling boy Ted with the undying love of his fond Mother (Janet Drake). May 7th, 1898". ALSO - on a blank page prior to the Allegory, is the following hand written note - "The subject if this Allegory was suggested by the wonderful advancement of women in the past few years - their severed chains of bondage placing them on a mental footing with men. These tremendous strides have been attained only by the Herculean efforts of women themselves - inspired by the Divine Hand - and immense possibilities whoes realities they have succeeded so marvelously in mastering. They have found "the light" - and may its radiance be the incentive got still greater and another achievement in the future for them - Janet Drake - May 24th 1924".
