Beschreibung
Fine condition in a similar dust jacket. Tall 8vo., imitation black leather in dust jacket; 355 pages First Edition, first printing. Signed presentation from Friedman on the front endpaper: "Au Philippe Garnier, Avec regards et appreciation, Dave Friedman." Philippe Garnier is a director, journalist, author and translator. He's been a Libération columnist since 1982, as well as the Hollywood interviewer of the French TV show "Cinéma-Cinémas." His various books as author include Honni Soit Qui Malibu and Caractères, moindres lumières à Hollywood. Friedman [1923-2011] was a regional marketing man for Paramount Pictures and sensed the money in independent distributing. He started his own company in the 1950s, which mainly produced so-called nudie-cutie films that came close to the legal limits for pornography at the time. This trend was followed by the sexploitation and "roughie" genres, depicting simulated sex with a more violent edge, often horror- or crime-related. Friedman went on to produce in the 1963 film "'Blood Feast," an American exploitation film often considered the first "gore" or "splatter" film. Books signed by Friedman are uncommon.
