Tm: monarchy of Scots in Britain began on the commencement of the furth century, at a time when Irc'ana, in the height of its power, was able to fupport it there. Loam the (on of Etc, in an advanced period of life, became the firft monarch of the dlbanian Scars in 503, and (by'his daughter Em!) was grandfather to Markertacb King of Ira land, from whom fixteen monarchs of Ireland hatie defcended. This alliance of Loam with the hit-niall royal family of Ireland, puts his time and the era of the Scarf/b Monarcby out of dif pute. It is furrounded with incontefiible proofs on all fides; and the learned Mr. Whitaker mutt correct a great miftake he has been led into, by antedating it near two hundred years.
