The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a college entrance examination which can be taken in any country and recognized by colleges in any country. The United World Colleges (UWC) are a chain of schools in various countries, where young people of all nations and backgrounds can live and learn together. Both of these institutions have expanded rapidly since their establishment in the 1960s, and are gaining increasing recognition almost everywhere except in Eastern Europe. This book is a personal and anecdotal history of the IB and the UWC, by Alec Peterson, who played a pioneering role in forming them.
