Buchbeschreibung Soft cover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. Ex-library trade paperback (from the Patient's Library of Mercy Hospital, Altoona, PA. (ISBN 0-935372-12-1) Contributing authors include: John Deutch, Edwin L. Zebroskie, John F. Ahearne, Gordon C. Hurlburt, Frederick S. Carney, Paul C. Vitz, Anna-Teresa, Tymieniecka, Donald Senior, Michael Hines, Benedict Ashley, Terence P. Brinkman, Thomas Neighbors, George Tagatz, Carol Los Mansmann, Frank Morrisey, and Margaret John Kelly. Very good copy, very good wrappers. The over-arching concern of the Workshop III was to distinguish carefully between the proper use of technological power and its abuse. The misuse of power has plagued the human race since its beginning, So simple a tool as a knife (presumable) was used by Cain to kill Abel and spill his blood. The constant challenge to humans since they first disobeyed God and immediately reached out for the power to "be like gods" promised by Satan, is to use power in accord with God's law. God has given the human race a delegated dominion over creation and with it the necessary power and skills. The temptation, however, is to misuse that power, to seek "to be like gods" but in a manner contrary to God's law. To close the workshop, an educator with broad Christian and humanistic background a well as health care experience was given the task of bringing the lectures and discussions of the workshop into some focus. The Reprise and Coda is the result of that undertaking: the Reprise highlights certain recurrent themes while the Coda brings a new note by making some suggestions for action. Religion, science.
