Reseña del editor:
A semi-autobiographical collection of 100 true or false salmon fishing short stories and anecdotes from the author's fishing life. Reader's can enjoy working out the 10 stories that are not true, which will be published on TrueorFalseFishingStories.com after September 30th 2014. Jess Miller caught his first Atlantic salmon on Scotland's river Tay in 1961 at the age of twelve. In 1968 his family moved to Dunkeld House Hotel in Perthshire with 1¾ miles of the Tay, where he had been fishing since a boy. Jess fished the Tay for more than forty years as well as fishing all around the UK and the world. Now he has put together this book of 100 funny, ridiculous, riotous, hilarious, informative and poignant short stories and anecdotes from his fishing experiences. The result is a fascinating look at Atlantic salmon fishing from a time when huge runs of spring salmon existed. "A glimpse of the past, when the Tay had truly huge fish! Characters and old friends really brought to life, with a real feeling of being a bystander watching it all happen." John Buckland "A Guide to Salmon Flies", co-authored with Arthur Oglesby. As all the stories are numbered with the longest being 3 pages and the shortest 2 lines this is a 'pick up and put down any time' book and all ages will enjoy trying to work out the 10 stories that are not true.

Buchbeschreibung Zustand: new. (Paperback, 2012). 2012 1st edition. 8vo paperback (147 x 210mm). Pp131. B/w photographs, b/w cartoon illustrations. Fine new copy. Signed by the author. "Jess Miller fished Atlantic salmon on Scotland's River Tay from 1958, keeping a record of his fishing happenings from which he created this book and competition in support of Atlantic salmon conservation. He worked on the Tay District Advisory Committee and had a hand in the removal of 17 netting stations from the Tay estuary, saving millions of salmon over time." "A glimpse of the past, when the Tay had truly huge fish! Characters and old friends really brought to life, with a real feeling of being a bystander watching it all happen." John Buckland in A Guide to Salmon Flies. "My imagination ran riot the same as the singing reels in the stories. A difficult book to put down, great fun, very entertaining." Paul Zissler. Ten of the hundred stories in this collection are untrue. The author is running a competition for all readers to spot which ones. (N.B. All current copies say 'Review Copy' on the front end-paper). A fine book in the George Leonard Herter tradition. Despite being dated 2012, I contributed an advertisement to this edition in Spring of 2013. . Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 30903
