Religion informed me of set patterns and procedures. Frankly, religion limited the power and movement of God in my life. I was bound by my religious practices and could not see beyond past experiences. I believe that many religious practices and beliefs have been more damaging than healing in this world. Wars and crusades have been fought, and people have been hunted, killed, and relegated to slavery ... all in the name of religion. Some of the doctrine was birthed from a sincere heart, desiring to do what they felt at the time was right; on the other hand, much religion was birthed from the efforts of men to control others and to engender for themselves power, authority, and what they considered "godly." Faith that is real and true begins with a desire to build a relationship with God and not with an attitude of obligation and duty. When we try to please God while motivated by fear and guilt, we are in bondage; however, fear, shame, and guilt are not healthy motivators of relationship ... love is.

Dr. C. Ronald S. Williams II is Founder, Senior Pastor and Chief Executive Officer of Mount Zion Fellowship in Highland Hills, Ohio, which he founded in 1982. Under his leadership, Mount Zion has grown from a membership of 15 people to an active congregation of approximately 3,000. Dr. Williams holds two doctoral degrees: Doctor of Ministry and Doctor of Divinity. He holds an undergrad degree from Livingston College (Political Science), 1974, and Master of Divinity from Ashland Theological Seminary with a major in New Testament Greek, 1980. He also earned a Doctorate of Ministry from Trinity Theological Seminary, 1995, and an Honorary Doctorate from China Christian College Taipei Taiwan, 1992. Dr. Williams has also studied at the Institute of Holy Land Studies in Israel. Dr. Williams is a nationally recognized author of four books including "Hush, the Lord is Talking and Other True Tales," "The Seasons of Life," "Decisions," and "Manifest – It is Already In You." He has also authored over 41 articles for the "Call and Post" newspaper in Cleveland, Ohio. He is an accomplished gospel music composer, arranger, musician, and musical director. Dr. Williams resides in Cleveland, Ohio. He is the father of two sons. In his spare time, he is a gourmet cook, grows and raises organic food, enjoys fishing, reading, and composing music.
