Others still there are who think they may have been descendants of the Shepherd Kings, who are recorded as Journeying from India to Egypt about the time that the Tower of Babel was being built. But whether any or all these suppositions are true or not, we know they once lived in our beautiful Ohio and Mississippi valleys, and built the strangely shaped mounds that at first were passed unnoticed by the early settlers of those parts.

Great piles of human bones were found in several, so old and decayed that they immediately turned to dust when exposed to the air.
