Vivienne Riches is a retired English teacher and was a close friend of Jeanette Crizzle. Since Jeanette's death in October 2006 she has continued to be a friend to Jeanette's husband Adam and his two children. In November 2006 Adam asked Vivienne to help him write his book covering the inner journey he experienced before and after Jeanette's death. This journey involved not only the personal difficulties which death of a beloved person brings but also the positive results which can sometimes follow from such a loss. It was a coincidence that Vivienne, an English graduate of London University, who grew up in Salisbury, Wiltshire, was appointed to her first teaching post at Peterborough County Grammar Schools for Girls, where Jeanette was to be a pupil many years later. It was equally coincidental that Jeanette joined the English Department of Wrenn School, Wellingborough, where Vivienne was Head of English. Both shared a deep enthusiasm for their subject and became close friends, particularly after Jeanette's marriage. As an instinctive lover of words, Vivienne, as 'Rosie Martin', has herself written a few short stories which have been read on the Wellingborough and District Talking Newspaper for the Blind, with which she has been deeply involved since 1984. Vivienne lives in Wellingborough, England, with her cats, Cassie and Lottie. Apart from her busy schedule which includes the Talking Newspaper, attending Poetry and History of Art classes, devotes much of her time to her garden, full of colour from early March until late October.
