R.T. Plasket is a happy camper. When I'm not sitting around a campfire with friends, or flying off to the landing on my golf cart, I spend much of my summer on the porch of my comfy trailer at Red Wing Lakes Campground in Port Republic not far from Atlantic City. Working on my laptop or Kindle, I usually sit on my porch, facing a beautiful lake as I write or read. Sometimes I paint. Oftentimes I can be caught taking a break, dancing alone to my music for the pure pleasure of it. My dancing also serves as a fun form of physical activity to prevent the return of a bad knee that once had me walking with a cane. My day usually begins watching the mist dissipate over the crystal clear water at sunrise. Then, with a mug of coffee in hand, I take a quick dip in the lake before breakfast. I live in my bathing suit. Midday finds me lolling in the lake a little longer on a refreshing break after a busy morning of writing. My wet bathing suit keeps me cool as I work and play through the heat of the summer afternoons. Come fall, I pack up and head back to my sleepy little community in the Pinelands of New Jersey, a "Where's that?" place, where I was born and where I spent some of the happiest and saddest times of my life. I always lived within twenty miles of my birthplace. Time and again, I moved to other nearby towns, only to be drawn back to play a new role in a different home back in my same community where I spend the winters of my retirement years as an artist and a writer.
