The GR10 Trail - Through the French Pyrenees. The 900km of footpath, lane and trackway which link the Atlantic coast with the Mediterranean have created one of the finest long-distance routes in France. GR10, the so-called Sentier des Pyrenees, is a walk of epic proportions, routed as it is along the north flank of a magical range of mountains. Unlike its counterpart on the Spanish slope, the GR10 actively seeks out a number of villages that lie snug at the foot of the mountains, so the long-distance walker can enjoy both the rugged heartland of the range and the more hospitable landscapes tended by a pastoral community. This classic long-distance walk across the Pyrenees from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean takes a lower route than the more arduous Pyrenean High Route. Nevertheless it passes through striking mountain country and gorge scenery. The route takes about 50 days to complete but the author divides it into sections conveniently tackled in a fortnight's holiday, with details of accommodation and transport and invaluable practical information for British walkers visiting France for the first time.

His interests include UK and European long distance trails, challenge walking, Munroes and peak bagging and adventure travel- he leads several walking holidays throughout Europe each year. He is an occasional contributor to a number of walking magazines and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a member of the Austrian Alpine Club.
