Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. Kurt Wiese (illustrator). First Edition, Oct, 1929. With previous owner's name and just a touch of shelf rubbing on the edges, otherwise a fine small hardcover copy in a mylar protected DJ with the same image as the book. A small chip in the DJ. Hardcover. Zustand: Fair. Truly rare, highly sought-after collectible children's book, 'The Fireman'. 5 3/4" x 5 3/4", 44 pp. Copyright page states 'Published October, 1929'; however, the title page has a '1934' at the bottom (New York - The Macmillan Company - 1934). Perhaps a reprint but the dating is quite odd. Definitely the first edition, as the second was issued in 1937. Condition: on the plus side, pages and illustrated endpapers free of all writing and marks, boards in pretty good shape (see all 5 photos enlarged); binding is shaken (loose) but holding and the endpaper gutters are separated because of this; fragile paper spine is gone; title page is detached. Otherwise good. Usually a $500 book in Good condition.
