Erstausgabe
London, A. & C. Black, 1909. Large 8vo. Original grey-blue cloth, lettered and decorated in gilt, top edges gilt; pp. xi, 174, [6, advertisements], 20 colour plates with captioned tissue-guards, a very fresh, near fine, copy with the unavoidable offset-toning to free endpapers and a few light speckles to fore-edge of book block. First edition. The print run for this title was a bit smaller than usual with only 2000 copies issued and many of those rebound into school prize bindings. Inman points out that by November 1909 '1,000 copies had been printed and 500 of these made ready for sale ⠦ In 1910 the remaining 200 copies were bought back from Luxmore [Eton housemaster] for £50 (a strangely high figure) with an agreement that they should not be used without his consent' (pp. 71f). Inman 149. The chapters in this volume include "Some Eton Boys"; "Out of School"; "Oppidans"; "Collegers"; "Etoniana" and "Those in Authority".
