A superb copy. Bound in finely woven blue cloth stamped bightly in gold lettering on the front boards and on the spine, this copy is virtually fine. In a superb dust jacket with a striking illustration of a Corsair reading on the front panel and the original price of $3.00 at the top of the inside front flap. A lovely dust jacket with only the lightest touches of wear to the edges. A charming, collectible copy with great pictorial dust jacket art. Isabel Weld Perkins (March 3, 1876 November 3, 1948), mostly known as Isabel Anderson or Mrs. Larz Anderson after her marriage, was a Boston-area heiress and author who left a legacy to the public that includes a park and two museums. "Although written primarily with the purpose of helping American travelers in North Africa, this book has the same charm, the same freshness of style, that was so characteristic of the author's last volume, "Under the Black Horse Flag." Unlike most books about that fascinating part of the world, it covers Tunisia and Algeria as well as Morocco, and is a mine of information of interest to those who follow contemporary events as well as to travelers." First Edition with matching dates on 1927 on the title and copyright pages.

First edition. 12mo.,46pp. Two one-act plays episodes in the lives of Mohammed and Buddha. Mrs. Anderson(Isabel Weld Perkins)at the age of 5 inherited $ 17 million cash from her grandfather, William Fletcher Weld. He made a fortune through his Black Horse Flag fleet of clipper ships and a subsequent transportation empire. At age 20 as a young debutante on her world tour.she met Larz Anderson an eligible bachelor from a distinguished Cincinnati, Ohio family who traced their roots in America to before the Revolution. A wealthy young Harvard graduate, he was serving at the United States Embassy in Rome in 1896. Larz and Isabel were married in Boston in 1897 and embarked on a life of luxury combined with public service and adventure. Larz served as Ambassador to Japan in 1912, and Isabel received the Croix d Guerre in 1918 for her nursing service in the Great War. They traveled widely with four trips around the world and throughout Europe and the Far East. The Andersons built a mansion at DuPont Circle in Washington, D.C., today owned by the Society of Cincinnati, and kept a house in New Hampshire. Summers and Christmas holidays, the Andersons spent at their twenty-five room mansion located at the crest of their estate in Brookline, which they named "Weld" in honor of Isabel s grandfather. Mrs. Anderson wrote many books and plays. Her books The Great Sea Horse, Under The Black Horse Flag, The Spell of Japan, In Eastern Seas, etc. while not common are obtainable. Her plays on the other hand are quite scarce. This copy is near fine and unopened in a very good++dust jacket(Trace of residue from a removed bookplate inside front cover, small closed tears to the wrapper near the top of spine).
