Zustand: Very Good. "This is a fascinating view of the European Theater of Operations from the perspective of ADSEC, or Advance Section, Communication. The logistical unit was the first of its kind on the continent and supported the United States First Army in its campaign through France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. Dated illustrations represent major milestones along the route or significant points of pride for the unit. Such achievements deemed worthy of memorialization include the construction of highways and railroad bridges, transportation logistics, and the establishment of communication lines. Bombers fill the horizon on their way to Germany, while its soldiers line up behind the white flag of surrender (illustrated as a pair of underwear). Celebratory illustrations in Paris and Rheims contrast with the solemnity of the battlefield of "The Bulge" and the wrecked city of Koln. This martial perspective was drawn by two members of ADSEC, Sgt. John Ciofalo and PFC Cliff Helstrom, and was published by the Advance Section Communication Zone (ASCZ) Engineering battalion. The verso features an extensive six-part narrative of "ADSEC in Action" from the planning period to V-E Day, as well as tables of decorations, unit firsts, and a blank address block so the map could be mailed home as a souvenir." Sheet Width (in) 28.5 Sheet Height (in) 21 Condition Description Creasing and moderate wear along former fold lines, including edge tears, pinholes at fold intersections, and some light abrasions on the verso of the sheet. Several edge tears have been repaired on the verso with archival tape and there's a bit of light discoloration visible in the lower left. Remains in good to very good condition, despite a few defects to the sheet.

This map combines the facts of battles and dates with an artistic content is historically informative. ADSEC was charged with: furnishing logistical support to US Army under Gen.
