Softcover. Zustand: Very Good. Theater Program; Two very informative brochures, which tell the story of Kabuki in scholarly detail, are sold bundled together. In the program from 1977, Samuel Leiter contributes an article about Ennosuke Ichikawa, described as Japan's most versatile actor. The plays included are Yoshitsune Senbonkazura and Kurozuka. The brochure is sound and clean, with light shelfwear. The 1985 program contains a lengthy article by Faubion Bowers entitled "Kabuki: History and Personality", and an article by James R. Brandon called "The Art of Ichikawa Danjuro". Plays include Shibaraku, Tachi Nusu-bito, Kojo, Kasane, Sakura-hime Azuma Bunsho, and Suchigumo. The condition is pristine. Together, these amply illustrated programs will bring anyone up to speed on this complex traditional artform.
