Inscribed by Guise on the front endpaper, "This book no. 1 is presented to Eulalia in appreciation of her assistance in the publication. Byron." This copy was presented to the author's wife, Eulalia. On April 24, 1860, the first steam train operated west of the Missouri River on the Marysville and Elwood Railroad, later known as the St. Joseph and Grand Island Railroad. In 1916 it came under the control of the Union Pacific Railroad. 51 numbered pages with historic photographs, plus a page with a locomotive roster and another with a listing of all the names the railroad used over the years. Bound in original red buckram with lettering stamped in gilt. The author's bookplate on the front endpaper. A fine copy in a very good dust jacket with mild rubbing, two very tiny chips and several tiny tears. Inscribed by Author(s). Book.
