One of only forty which are quarter bound in natural vellum with gilt titles to spines and with the extra engravings (260 were cloth bound and without the extra engravings). Slipcase with the odd very minor scuff. The spine to volume two has a small scuff/mark which has slightly affected the surface (possible production glue mark?). Both volumes: boards and contents fine, with no further faults. An attractive and well presented set with numerous engravings, tipped in plates and other related elements. To the rear of volume two is the section with the extra engravings (7 pp with 15 engravings). The first letter is from approximately 1917 and the final one is from March 1988. A desirable book for anyone with an interest in Joan Hassall's works and her personal thoughts presented through her letters.
