Erstausgabe
First edition, first printing With front cover photo of Allen Ginsberg with hand cymbals in ecstasy. Wonderfully edited. This one of a kind issue collected the world of the Beat and beatniks. From the library of Beat poet Janine Pommy Vega with her ever close reading thus occasional top corners are folded down for favorite passages for her to refer to or share and sometimes argue with. Contributors include letters of Jack Kerouac, Herbert Huncke, an itnerview with Jan Kerouac by Gerald Nicosia, a wonderful photoggraph portfolio by Larry Keenan of San Francisco, the prose of Bonnie Bremser, the great exchange of letters between John Clellon Holmes and Allen Ginsberg, an interview with Amiri Baraka, poems by Philip Whalen and Joanna McClure. Gregory Corso is also here. It's a full house. Near fine pictorial stiff wraps.

Limited Edition. Octavo. Limited to 1000 copies. 31 pages. The authors whose writings on the beats began in 1971 were dedicated to providing an archival record of what the beats wrote rather than publishing new poems, essays, etc. This is a part of their continuing series entitled "the unspeakable visions of the individual". Arthur Knight writes: "In these letters spanning a decade Kerouac talks about Buddhism, growing a garden, life in Mexico, working on the railroad, drinking, his mother, the pain he experienced " writing about everybody as they are" and his love for Carolyn and her family. Staple bound in pictorial wraps lettered and decorated in black, the last three pages have a lower corner crease, some toning to edges. A very good copy.
