Binding half fawn mottled calf, flat back with gilt fillets with title in red leather gusset, corners, mottled edges. Pages VIII, 2 not numbered, 190, 2 not numbered with Errata. Engraved Frontispiece with original tissue. 6 unnumbered pages, frontispiece, viii & 190 pages, 2 unnumbered pages, large geographic map and 66 plates, some of them foldouts, all engraved in copper. Our copy is complete of the 3 "bis" plates, giving a total of 67 plates. The French painter Louis-François Cassas visited the Adriatic coast from Istria to Dalmatia in 1782 and his drawings were later used in Lavallée's work. It gives a wealth of information on this reagion at the end of the 18th century, in both architecture and archaeology.
