Zustand: Very Good. **PLEASE READ: THIS IS A VHS VIDEO.** Video in original plastic case. Both video & case are in excellent condition. "Revered by the peoples of the Empire, and later the Commonwealth, Her Majesty was despised by Adolph Hitler. To the Fuhrer she was the paradigm of loving, family values - the embodiment of honesty and decency - the impregnable fortress that held firm against the dark forces of fascism and evil. This special fondly crafted from select and rare British Movietone Archive film, charts the flowering of the private, publicity shunning Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon into the 'power behind the throne', wife and Queen to His Majesty King George VI. It unveils the way she braved the Abdication Crisis which threatened to shatter the very edifice of the monarchy and the nation's morale. This symbol of defiance picked her way through the rubble of the Blitz, refusing to abandon her beloved Londoners as enemy aircraft blotted out the sun. With the passing of her adored partner this extraordinary woman went on to fashion a modern role as the dowager Queen, for ever the smiling face of integrity and continuity amidst a world of conflict and change. ". Book.

Hardcover (Original Cloth). Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Good. First Edition. 1986 Reprint of 1st Edition thus; xv, 296 pages + pages 155 to 167 of The Geographical Journal Vol.151 Part 2 July 1985 "Archipelago to Peninsula", b/w photos, maps, diagrams, 4 maps including folding map at front of book. Original covers in unclipped dust jacket. Slight bump to top edge of dust jacket, contents clean. Appears unread. The British Graham Land Expedition was a completely amateur expedition, except for their ship's Royal Navy Captain and engineer. "The objectives were simple: experience the adventure of polar living, matching danger and daring while exploring Graham Land by ship, sledge and airplane" "To sum up the results of a complex expedition working over a long period is difficult; especially as the scientists of the party will not be prepared to make any definite statements about the research in their particular branches of science for many months, when they will have finished working up their results. But as far as our exploratory work is concerned, we were able to work in a previously unvisited part of the Antarctic and make two major discoveries. First, that Graham Land is part of the Antarctic Continent and not an archipelago, as was previously thought, and secondly, that a great channel running approximately north and south separates Graham Land from Alexander Land. Since our return to England, His Majesty the King has graciously given permission for this channel to be called King George VI Sound."
