24 pages. The first printing of a manuscript from 1629 that Robert Surtees and his friend James Raine found in the Durham Cathedral. It not only deals with abuses committed against the Common-wealth but has issues limiting the cutting of wood, the destruction of castles and other senseless acts. Although Surtees died in economic distress, his manuscript collection was saved, and his friends led by the Revd. James Raine established the Surtees Society which still flourishes today. Very scarce with copies at Yale, Columbia and the Newberry. Bound in wrappers, lacking front wrap but does have three blanks at front and rear.
