Outer slipcase shows patches of darkening, paper spine label browned -- otherwise both inner & outer slipcases remain sturdy, square and strong, no splitting at seams. 63 pp. of text + tissue-protected facsimile plates. Facsimiles of more or less fragmentary material never before printed, or pages from Stevenson's note-book containing initial drafts of pieces afterward published, many in the "Child's garden of verses.".

Book would be VERY FINE but for tiny brown speckles (foxing) on the spine. Double slipcase in matching brown cloth, with paper label on the outer slipcase. Paper label is intact, albeit mildly age-toned with some spots. NO owner's name or bookplate. Pages are bright white, crisp, free of markings, with NO foxing. First appearance of these writings -- drafts and poems deleted from PENNY WHISTLES FOR SMALL WHISTLERS / A CHILD'S GARDEN OF VERSES. One of 450 copies. Printed for members only by the Torch Press.
