Not dated but probably a very early reprint as the first edition appears to have titles on the front board as well as spine. With 8 pages of black and white photographs. 333 pages. Book is good., clean and unmarked internally apart from some browning to endpapers and minor damage to fore edge. The binding is sound. The boards have some damp staining to front and back and some shelf-wear to extremities.

Spine has slightly faded although the gilt titles are still clearly visible. Minor shelf wear and a little fraying to the top and base. Light foxing along the top and fore edge of the text block, nothing serious. Endpapers are a little toned, as expected. Pages are in a lovely clean condition, minor toning to the extremities. First Edition. 332pp. [1928] A lovely, fresh, tight, clean very good plus copy in original publisher's green cloth boards - gilt embossed to the spine and to the front board. The head and tail of the spine a little bumped. Several light or slight bumps to the leading board edges and a bump to the front joint - not heavy. Light foxing to the upper fore-edge - slight foxing to the other fore-edges - almost entirely free from foxing elsewhere. A very fresh well preserved copy in original publisher's green cloth - a great collector's copy.

He covered golf for 'The Times' from 1907 to 1953 and for 'Country Life' from 1907 to 1961 and was Captain of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews in 1934. The first of an autobiographical trilogy, followed by Life is Sweet Brother in 1940 and The World the Fred Made in 1955. Book.

A fine copy in the very good original dustwrapper, which has had smal chips to spine ends and edges restored. Eight photographic plates. T. G. B. is Darwin's close friend Thomas Geoffrey Blackwell, the dedicatee of Playing The Like, and a fellow member of Royal St. George's. The first volume of memoir by the golf writer of whom Herbert Warren Wind wrote on his induction into World Golf's Hall of Fame, "to start at the beginning, Bernard Darwin is the greatest writer on golf the world has ever known. He is much more than that. He may be the greatest of all sportswriters." Notably uncommon signed, and in a dustwrapper.
