Hardcover. Sale 3884. Blue paper boards with cream cloth spine, unpaginated, 90 BW plates with tissue protectors; weighs 6 lbs. Title on spine & front cover: Important Paintings: Collection of a Swiss Nobleman. Subtitle on title page: A Collection including Works formerly in the Possession of the Imperial Families of Hohenzollern and Hapsburg, and other Princely Houses, Together with a Small Group of Objets d'Art, sold by order of a Swiss and a German Banking House. This is the large catalogue of an auction of 94 lots, mostly paintings. Nearly each one is granted a double-page spread with annotation and tissue-protected illustration. According to the foreword by Hermann Voss: "It contains not only works by leading masters of all the important European schools but unites in itself and brings together objects from famuos princely collections (including those of the former Imperial houses of Hohenzollern and Hapsburg), from Italian and other noble families, and from well known collections such as that of the Messrs. Kann, Paris." Good (Moderate soiling to covers/foxing/edgewear/toning; textblock edges are toned/scuffed/foxed/smudged; page edges are lightly toned; some pages are dog-eared; but this does not appear to affect the plates; interior is clean; binding is solid.).
