Publisher's wrappers. Ukrainian edition of Friedrich Engels's "The Peasant War in Germany" (German: "Der deutsche Bauernkrieg"), translated by Volodymyr Levytsky. This edition comprises 126 pages and measures 23 cm. The text is in Ukrainian. The condition of the book is good, although the wrappers and several pages show signs of chipping and tearing. "The Peasant War in Germany" , authored by Friedrich Engels, is a concise historical account of the early-16th-century rebellions, collectively known as the German Peasants' War (1524-1525). Engels wrote this work in London during the summer of 1850, in the aftermath of the 1848-1849 revolutionary uprisings. The book draws parallels between these uprisings and the events of the 16th century. Engels observes in his writing, "Three centuries have flown by since then, and many a thing has changed; still the peasant war is not as far removed from our present-day struggles as it would seem, and the opponents we have to encounter remain essentially the same." This statement reflects his view on the continuity and similarity of social struggles across different eras.

Geneva: Izdanie rossiiskoi sotsialdemokraticheskoi rabochei partii, 1904. Octavo (18 × 12 cm). Original printed staple-stitched wrappers; 40 pp. Stamp of the Central Committee of the Russian Social-democratic Worker?s Party to title and front wrapper. Light fading to wrapper; wrappers detached from block, else good or better. First edition in Russian of one of the most important essays on the agrarian question in Marxist thought. Friedrich Engels composed the essay in November 1894 for the journal ?Neue Zeit.? In 1903, V. I. Lenin translated the opening of this essay in preparation for his lectures on the agrarian question at the Russian Higher School of Social Sciences in Paris. This first complete Russian translation of the Engels essay, with the introduction by the Russian revolutionary and Marxist thinker Georgi Plekhanov (1856-1918), was published by the Social-Democratic Labor Party (RSDRP). The RSDRP was founded in 1891 to unite the diverse movements struggling for workers? liberation in Russia and abroad. The party eventually split into the Menshevik and Bolshevik factions (with Lenin on the side of the Bolsheviks, and Plekhanov on the side of the Mensheviks), and was dissolved after the October Revolution.
