Cloth. Zustand: Fine. None (illustrator). First edition. The first edition of this novel by A. N. Wilson, in the original dust wrapper. The first edition. In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper. This novel was written by British writer Andrew Norman Wilson. The work follows Evelyn Tradescant, a lonely natural history buff who is unlucky in love, as she meets Theo Gorman and starts a new romance. In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally lovely with only slight bumping to the tail of the spine. The wrap is smart with fading to the spine, the odd minor chip and small closed tear and slight marks. Internally firmly bound with clean and bright pages. Fine. book.
Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. London: Secker & Warburg, 1977. A fine copy in black boards with bright gilt spine lettering and a scant of light foxing to the text block edges in a near-fine, price-clipped dustwrapper with the slightest edgewear at the head and foot of the spine. Wilson's scarce first book, which helped to establish his reputation, is about an English baron (an ex-intimate of Goebbels) who is rich and has many strange connections. He becomes involved with a young schoolteacher and others in a wonderfully-wrought English upper class story of sex and money, with incest and homosexuality thrown in by the author in deference to the modern era. A fascinating tale.
