Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good Minus. No Jacket. First Edition. Hartford, Toledo, Chicago & Cincinnati: American Publishing Company, W.H. Bliss & Co., F.G. Gilman & Co., Nettleton & Co., 1873. Marietta Holley (1836-1926) was one of America's few women humorists and her popularity rivaled that of Mark Twain. Holley wrote about common life, often in dialect, with malaproprisms galore. This is a Very Good (Minus) copy of the First Edition of the author's first book, which was sold by subscription only. Green decorative cloth binding, heavily stamped on the covers, with titling on the spine in gilt. Clean text; 432 pages. Many great illustrations throughout. Contains two very interesting pages from the publisher in the rear: the first is an American Publishing catalog, while the second page is addressed "To the Public" in regard to pirate publishers. This copy, while basically sound, is bumped and cocked; there is a small worm-hole that covers the first 255 pages. It does not affect the text-block. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. First Edition. Decorative Cloth. Very Good Minus/No Jacket.

Leather. Zustand: new. Leather. (Book). Most musicians are familiar with the famous Bigsby Vibrato, but not as many know about the wonderful guitars that Paul Bigsby built in the 1940s. Bigsby, who was responsible for developing and refining the pedal steel guitar, also built the first modern solid body electric guitar for Merle Travis in 1948, predating Leo Fender and Gibson's Les Paul by a number of years. The Story of Paul A. Bigsby tells how Bigsby influenced Fender and Gibson, as well as a number of other guitar manufacturers, in building techniques and design. This deluxe illustrated coffee table book contains over 300 color and black & white photos. Many of these have not previously been published, and over 50 are actual Bigsby instrument photos taken by fine arts photographer Greg Morgan. The book also comes with an audio CD of Paul Bigsby, recorded in the late 1950s, telling stories of his business. Special Limited Edition of 800 books autographed by Fred Gretsch and packaged in an attractive deluxe box Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.
