Mario Fratti is a playwright and a drama critic. He was born in Italy but has been living and writing in English in New York City since 1963. He is considered one of the most prolific American playwrights. His plays have been performed in more than seven hundred theatres in nineteen languages. The musical Nine (his adaptation of Fellini’s film 8½) won the O’Neill Selection Award, the Richard Rodgers Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award, the Leone di San Marco Literary Award, the Heritage and Culture Award, Eight Drama Desk Awards, and Seven Tony Awards.
