The author was inspired to craft this tale as she watched squirrels struggle to get into her bird feeder while she was healing from breast cancer. "Pearl and Burl" is Gail's first book for children. This tale was inspired by watching the squirrels and birds in her feeder while recuperating from breast cancer. Her husband redesigned the feeder repeatedly to keep the squirrels out but regardless, they devised a way to get in with many comical results. Gail credits their determination as motivation for her recovery. Today she divides her time between writing, feeding those squirrels and fostering puppies rescued by the Georgia SPCA. All profits from the sale of her story will be donated to their dog and cat rescue, health and education programs. Gail has lived in Chicago, London, Manhattan and Portland Oregon and now resides on Lake Lanier outside Atlanta. Her friend and illustrator Kyle is an artist, student and graphic designer based in Portland Oregon. This is his first children's book and he is excited to share it with his nephew Keldon.
