Joshua J Ballard is a well bearded writer, and performance poet hailing from the shores of New Jersey. The only 2-time Grand Slam Poetry Champion in the history of Loser Slam, based out of New Jersey, Joshua also represented his great state at the 2011 Individual World Poetry Slam, he has as well been nominated for poet laureate of Asbury Park, thrice times, in 2010, 2011, & 2012. Self-publisher of two original chapbooks of his poetry in 2010 & 2011, he also has a feature length spoken word album to his credit (How Strange It Is When We Are Young), released in 2011 as well. Having begun his spoken word career in 2010, Joshua has since toured the nation three times and has been published in the internationally recognized The Idiom Magazine, The Pedestal, The Viking News, The Tri-City News, and others. Joshua facilitates a youth writing workshop at Asbury Park's The Shore Institute of Contemporary Art after school. Oft times finding himself jogging, Joshua discovers his meter through an uneven gait attributed to a broken ankle which never did heal right.
