Please see photos and ask questions, if any, before purchasing. Carlo Blasis (1797 - 1878) was an Italian dancer and choreographer best know for his pedagogical work in developing a codified series of poses for dancers along with developing a theory of dance that involved a movement axis or vertical line through the pose as well as using mathematical geometry and physics to define and analyze movement. This is a copy of his text defining these and other theories on the development of dance movement. In one of those meta moments that seem to define book collecting, the bookplate of Alfonso Josephs Sheafe, an American dancer and writer who built on this work to write in the early twentieth century is inside the front. First Edition was published in 1828. This is a presumed Second Edition. RAREB1830MUVA - 08/18 FORN-SHELF-0460-BB-2410-HKREV97.
