Inhaltsangabe

Bug Club Comprehension is part of Pearson's Bug Club - the first whole-school phonics-based reading programme that joins books with an online reading world to teach today's children to read. Bug Club Phonics gives you a fun, firm foundation in phonics!

This pack contains 12 copies of Beyond the Horizon. This historical story begins as Sarah says goodbye to her father, who is setting sail for a long journey to India. Sarah desperately wants to go with her father, but he refuses to take her because of the danger involved. Left behind with a seemingly unkind Aunt, Sarah decides to cut off her hair and dress like a boy in the hope that she can sneak aboard the ship. Children will discuss the historical setting and how this impacts the story, as well as exploring the character of Sarah: the motivation for her actions, and whether or not she appeals to the reader. Suitable for children age 10-11 (Year 6)
