The author demonstrates that early Christian beliefs about the figure of Christ, who is identified with the divine Logos, were often a blend of Christian teachings with Greek philosophical ideas. The theory of the divine Logos nevertheless helped early Christian thinkers to explain the relationship between God, Christ, and the universe. This theory held that the eternal Logos, or divine Reason, was the means by which God created and interacted with the world.
