This publication serves as a companion to SGNA’s Manual of Gastrointestinal Procedures and gives an overview of pulmonary procedures frequently performed in GI/endoscopy settings. The manual presents 24 procedures, categorized as primarily Diagnostic, Therapeutic or Specimen Collection, although some have aspects of more than one category. Safety measures are outlined in Part 1 and Standard Equipment required as part of the basic complement for an endoscopy setting in which pulmonary procedures are performed are outlined in Part 2. Each procedure includes a description, indications, contraindications, pre-, intra- and post-procedure assessment, care and responsibilities, patient teaching, equipment and potential complications. The Pulmonary Manual serves as an important resource for endoscopy staff that are new to pulmonary endoscopy and/or infrequently assist with pulmonary procedures.
