Rare Dublin edition issued with no illustrations, in 1773, the first published account (in the same year) after the official account. Bagnall 2514 states it is complete unillustrated; Mitchell 649 mentions a map for Vol 1. not present here and no evidence of its inclusion. Complete with 51 charts and plates.Contemporary light brown half calf and marbled boards, labeled "Cook's Voyage", occasional stamps of previous owner on plate margins, "colonial secretary's office", bookplate indicates this collection belonged to Sir Henry Parkes and housed in the chief secretary's department, NSW. Parkes was a Premier of the Colony of NSW. A couple of pages with foxing, otherwise a fine clean copy with plates in excellent condition. This is the rare earliest issue of the first edition.
