[Sydney : the artist, 1973]. Folio, illustrated card covers, 8 pp, printed in black and red ink with one small illustration in colour, a very good copy. The original edition of Whiteley's notes for the painting Alchemy (1972-73). A facsimile edition was published by the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 2006. Copies are recorded in six Australian collections (State Library of Queensland; State Library of Victoria; Art Gallery of South Australia Research Library;Art Gallery of New South Wales Research Library and Archive; La Trobe University Library; University of New South Wales Library). Douglas Stewart Fine Books sells rare books across all fields, but our strengths are in travel and exploration ? particularly of Australia and the Pacific ? and Australian art. In addition, we deal in all types of heritage material, including photographs, manuscripts, ephemera, maps and globes, and fine art.

We love meeting new people and welcoming visitors to our shop (open Monday to Saturday), but if you can't make it to Melbourne you can find probably find us at one of the major fairs in London, New York, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Toronto, San Francisco, Boston, Hong Kong or Sydney - all places we have exhibited in since 2009.
