Collection of 4 Cultural Revolution newspapers edited by various revolutionary and Red Guard committees in Shanghai, Liaoning, Beijing and Nanjing. Each newspaper consists of 4 pages. All show browning, some staining and small tears at folds and edges. Minor repairs done with washi paper. Text in simplified Chinese characters. 38.6 x 27cm. 1. Issue 11 of ??? "Rebel to the End", published 12 April 1967 in Shanghai attacks Liu Shaoqi in several articles, and includes an anti-Liu Shaoqi comic strip and a song,' Down with Liu Shaoqi' in Chinese musical notation. To further denigrate him, some headlines printed the characters for his name upside down or side on, a visual image of his fall. A short p. 4 article briefly describes a number of revolutionary meetings and struggle sessions in Beijing at the time. 2. Issue 20 of ???? "Steel Wall" published 13 July 1967 in Liaoning, condemns Song Renqiong and his supporters Ma Mingfang, Yu Ping, Gu Zhuoxin et al., accusing them of producing the 'Three Point Opinions', a 'poisonous weed against Chairman Mao thought'. According to the articles, they plan to restore capitalism and oppose and suppress the Cultural Revolution in NE China, amongst other offences. Despite being targeted by the Gang of Four early in the Cultural Revolution, Song Renqiong was later rehabilitated after Mao's death and served under Deng Xiaoping. 3. Issue 31 of ???? "Ren da san hong" published 22 July 1967 in Beijing calls for Peng Dehuai to be completely eliminated (his crimes should die 10,000 times!), as paper tigers like him and Liu Shaoqi could otherwise regroup and make a comeback. Peng Dehuai, who was still alive but being held for struggle sessions at the time, is heavily criticised for his role in changes to the military, conspiring to carry out counter-revolution, being anti-Mao and a capitalist-roader, colluding with Khrushchev and so on. 4. Issue 5 of ??? "Red Guards" published on 26 July 1967 in Nanjing includes the text of Zhang Chunqiao's speech in Nanjing, (and possibly in other areas during the visit of members of the Group of Four to Anhui, Shandong and Zhejiang). Zhang Chunqiao mentions a few areas where disturbances had taken place between various factions, rebel groups, Red Guards and the PLA, such as Shanghai, Inner Mongolia, Qinghai and Sichuan, painting a picture of politically unstable factional battles and a country in a state nearing anarchy. He appeals for everyone to support, love, obey and understand the army, despite some inevitable shortcomings. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 215958
