My Father’s Watch: Aspects of the Physical World by physicists Donald F. Holcomb and Philip Morrison. Published by Prentice-Hall in 1974. Bibliographic records give the volume as xxvi + 390 pages and classify it under science and physics. An unusually designed and richly illustrated introduction to the physical sciences, developed around the observation of ordinary phenomena and the mathematical patterns that describe them. Rather than treating physics simply as a sequence of formulas, Holcomb and Morrison connect mathematics and physical reasoning to subjects including motion, energy, exponential processes, radioactive decay, population growth, measurement, graphing, and other observable processes in the natural world. The striking pictorial binding reproduces two pocket watches, while the title derives from John Ciardi’s poem “my father’s watch,” reproduced at the beginning of the book. The text originated from a course designed by Holcomb and Morrison for students who might take only a single college-level course in the physical sciences. Archival information concerning the book records substantial development during the late 1960s and early 1970s, with Prentice-Hall putting the finished work into production in 1973 for publication in 1974. Condition: Very Good. Original pictorial hardcover boards remain bright and attractive, with light rubbing, minor surface scuffing, and modest shelf wear concentrated along the edges, corners, and spine extremities. Corners show light bumping and wear. Binding appears firm and square. Interior pages shown are clean, bright, and well preserved, with numerous diagrams, graphs, mathematical illustrations, and explanatory figures throughout. No significant interior markings are visible in the pages examined. No dust jacket present. Please see photographs for condition details. Collector / Significance: An appealing and increasingly uncommon 1970s physics text notable for both its graphic design and interdisciplinary approach to teaching the physical sciences. The collaboration between Cornell physicist Donald F. Holcomb and Philip Morrison gives the volume additional interest for collections devoted to twentieth-century physics, science education, popular science, and the history of scientific pedagogy. The unusual pocket-watch pictorial binding also makes the book considerably more visually distinctive than the typical college physics textbook of the period. Carefully packed for shipment. USPS Media Mail available within the United States unless otherwise requested. International shipping available at cost. Returns accepted in accordance with AbeBooks’ return policy. SCI 3.…

For Principle of Accounting Courses
Students understand (or get it) right after you do a problem in class. However, as soon as they leave class, their ability to do the problems and complete their homework diminishes with each passing hour. Often times this results in students struggling to complete their homework on their own. Even worse, the frustration can lead to students quitting on the material altogether and falling behind in the course. As a result, an entire class can fall behind as instructors attempt to keep everyone on the same page.
With the Financial and Managerial Accounting 2e Student Learning System, all features of the student textbook, study resources and online homework system are designed to work together to provide students with more I Get It! moments. The consistency, repetition and strong details throughout the entire student learning system allow students to achieve success both inside and outside the classroom while keeping both instructors and students on track.
