Octavo, original halfleather binding with gilt title and rules to spine, pp xiv, 522. Edges and corners rubbed, endpapers foxed. New rear endpapers: lacks the map at rear. Very good condition. Sir Roger Therry (1800-1874), a judge, arrived in Sydney from Ireland in 1829. His "Reminiscences" were popular and went into a second edition, with some corrections, two months after the first. It was criticised in NSW and Therry suppressed the remaining copies. However the ADB says of the book: "as a descriptive narrative of places, natives, dramatis personae and events, it is a very readable, useful piece of work devoid of rancour and disclosing deep human sympathies."
