Anonymous publication: 3 volume 3rd editions, full set. Enlarged and expanded for the 1st time. Still in the original sugar paper boards. Three engraved portrait frontises' of Moreau, Pichegru & Duc D'Enghien. Uncut edges as issued. Volume 1 has the biographical details of General Moreau, E. J. Sieyes, Fouche de Nantes, Barras, Roederer, Chassebeuf de Volney, many of the generals in this volume inc; Soult, Dumas, Dufour, Massena etc, and Tallyrand. Vol 2 has Carlo Buonapaprte, Letitia Raniolini, Joseph and |Napoleon Buonaparte, and other members of this nepotistic dynasty. Volume 3 has Louis Antoine Henry Bourbon, Louis VXIII, Royalist Gen George Cadoual, The Vendean and Chouan War (A sketch, first added here), Gen Murat, Gen's Rochambeau and Boye, Admiral Linois and other consuls and directors. + a fold-out letter in facsimile (as per list in volume 1), facing page 369 in volume 3. Volume 1 has XVI page + 396 pages inc 4 pages of adverts at rear, Volume 2 has 419 pages + adverts on rear of final page and title and frontispiece. Volume 3 has Iv pages contents + 485 pages inc 5 pages of publishers adverts at rear. CONDITION: Whilst still untouched and in original paper boards as sold in 1805 these are worn and handled, the spines worn through so the stringing shows, the paper is all hand-made laid rag paper and is in very good condition overall GOOD with room for a tidy and RARE with all half-titles and advert leaves. The uncut edges add style to a nice antiquarian period set of works on the French revolutionary notaries. **A slightly scurrilous work with digs and prods at those involved, perhaps aimed at being infammatory?
