Zustand: Very good. - A few words penned in blue ink on a postcard, 3-1/4 inches high by 5-1/2 inches wide. Signed "Leo Nomellini". Postmarked & addressed in another hand on the verso. The corners of the card are very slightly bumped. Very good. The inscription reads: "Best Personal Regards / 'Jane' / Leo Nomellini # 73 / S. F. 49ERS / All the Way -- Pro Football Hall of Fame 1969".Italian-born Hall of Fame football player Leo Nomellini [1924-2000] only began playing football in 1942 after serving with the Marines in World War II. He received a football scholarship to the University of Minnesota, where he became a two-time All American and the 49ers' first ever NFL draft choice in 1950. He played in every 49ers game for 14 seasons, playing both offensive and defensive tackle. He was selected to the All-NFL team six times and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1969.
