In this work, computational models are developed forapplication to large-eddy simulation (LES). In particular, threecritical modeling aspects are considered, namely local flame extinctionand reignition, nitrogen oxide formation, and noise-generation bycombustion. These models are integrated into theflamelet/progress variable formulation, thus allowing for a consistent treatmentof different combustion-physical effects in a unified framework. The computational models are analyzed in a priori studiesand applied to LES for different flame configurations, includingturbulent jet flames and a realistic aircraft engine combustor.
