Kedze vsak mnohych ludi zaujimali aj autorove myslienky a zivotne pribehy, rozhodol sa Jan Rezac (propagator Sudekovho diela a autor jeho prvej monografie urcenej na export) zaznamenavat pri navstevach umelca jeho rozpravanie, vzdy na jednu konkretnu temu. Namiesto pamati tak mal vzniknut akysi slovnik, kde by boli Sudekove reminiscencie, uvahy a nazory zoradene do "hesiel". Riadenim osudu tych hesiel vzniklo iba devat - a trvalo temer tridsat rokov, kym uzreli svetlo sveta v tomto prvom (a jedinom) kniznom vydani. Kniha doplnena - ako inak- Sudekovymi fotografiami sa tak stava unikatnou prilezitostou "zapocuvat" sa do autentickeho rozpravania umelca, ktory aj slovami dokazal vytvarat posobive obrazy.
