Ridgway's seminal work on Chester Goldsmiths from early times to 1726 has long been recognized as the standard study of the subject. This second volume deals with the period of greatest interest to collectors, covering the 110 years during which no fewer than six Richardsons and very many others, often working in Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham, produced much larger quantities of work, still comparatively readily available.
