The beel extends over four adjacent areas of Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajgonj and Natore districts of Bangladesh. The previous area of the beel of about 108,800 ha. has been reduced to about 36,800 ha. Chalan beel is a seasonally deeply flooded area and as a consequence, a large amount of silt is deposited over there. The texture of the Chalan beel soils varied from silty clay to clay. Total N also decreased over time and ranged from 0.04 to 0.17%. C/N ratio of the studied pedons is moderate. CEC of the Chalan beel soils also decrease over time. Mica was the dominant mineral of the Chalan beel soils which was 40%. The second abundant mineral was kaolinite which was 9%. Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Increasing quantity of solid waste creates various environmental and health problems. Most common problems associated with improper management of solid waste include diseases transmission, fire hazards, foul odour, atmospheric and water pollution, blockage of sewer system and economic losses. In Bangladesh, the collection, transportation and disposal of MSW are unscientific and chaotic. Solid waste recycling and reclamation approach can be a sustainable and effective waste management system in many growing cities of the least developed countries For achieving proper solid waste management, a lot of efforts have been focused more on collection and disposal but ignored waste recycling which can result into income generation, job creation, production of useable things and reduction of the waste quantities that will finally require disposal in the existing municipal landfills or disposal site. This book describes the solid waste management in the study area with a view to identifying the recyclable waste and its generation rates, composition of components of solid waste.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - This book presents an overview of the rules for boring spacing, boring depths requirements along with sampling type and depths as well as its design applications, in the light of the experience accumulated in geotechnical investigation. The topics have been discussed in details. Also the number and type of field tests in soil form survey have been thrashed out her to see the variability of test procedure, apparatus used and their contribution in determining soil properties. The study reveals that there is no hard and fast rule for boring spacing or the depth to which boring are to be advanced. For collecting undisturbed soil sample Shelby tube sampler is suitable and it is a common practice in Bangladesh that Shelby Tube is gently hammered into the soil not employing the jacking system. For field test standard penetration test is very user friendly in context of Bangladesh and is most widely used for its simplicity of apparatus and ease of testing.
