Front endpp removed, 217pp text is crisp and unmarked and followed by an interesting albeit hard to read 32pp Mr. Heinemann's Catalogue. There are some well chosen photographs and a few line illustrations throughout. Taken from the author's Preface: "I have little to say except that a small experience of both hunting and of war having shown me how they dovetail one into the other-and having seen also that the hunting man is already a more than half-made soldier, I have endeavoured to put my thoughts on the subject into words, in the hope that they may be of some use to those who have no experience at all".
