Ivory coloured vellum on boards, with blue and gilt, blind stamped, line decoration to boards and gilt school coat of arms to front and rear board. Gilt lettering and decoration to spine. Sadly, lacking original silk ribbon tie. Light bumping and rubbing to extremities. Vellum is a little soiled , but intact. Top page edges are gilt. All other page edges are rough cut and a little dusty and spotted. A little occasional spotting towards the end pages. Otherwise clean and tidy throughout.A limited edition of one hundred and twenty five, of which this appears to be No. 108 (the number has been altered) and signed, in ink, by the artist Arthur Garratt. Featuring 30 hand tipped coloured plates with captioned guards, reproduced from paintings by Arthur Garratt and Eton portraits, including a frontispiece of King Henry VI. There is an inscription to the front free-endpaper reading: 'L.H. Vassall from A.C. Rayner-Wood. Eton. Dec 12th 1917'. A.C. Rayner-Wood appears to have been an Eton housemaster. He fought in the First World War, and was the author of 'Twenty Years After: The Letters of an Eton Housemaster' (published 1939). In a cloth binding, with a gilt Eton crest to each board. Externally, bumped, with some marks. Spine darkened, with slight loss to the top and tail.
