I primi quattro hanno proposto la verifica di quadri storiografici e critici assestati relativi a momenti significativi della tradizione poetica italiana, in particolare lirica (a Milano tra Tre e Quattrocento, e nel pieno Cinquecento petrarchista), nel tempo enfatizzati o distorti a dispetto delle risultanze effettive. Il rinnovamento delle cornici storiche ha suggerito analisi puntuali dei testi secondo diversi paradigmi, e i saggi della seconda parte dedicano così alla tradizione poetica rinascimentale, considerata in alcuni dei suoi massimi rappresentanti, uno sguardo ravvicinato, particolarmente attento al rapporto tra forme e strutture tematiche dei testi. La riflessione su forma e materia spinge a ripensare il nostro atteggiamento nei confronti della lirica del Cinquecento, in vista di un recupero delle sue inflessioni individuali, spesso effetto di una consapevole proiezione autobiografica, e delle scelte tematiche, contro la semplificazione che l'ha lungamente confinata nel limbo di una meccanica imitazione petrarchesca o di un puro esercizio stilistico. Pubblicazione del Centro Pio Rajna. Nella tradizione editoriale recente del poema dantesco è diventata quasi abituale la scelta di completare la Commedia con un rimario "a versi interi". Ormai da molti decenni tali rimari convergono su un'unica soluzione, che al di sotto delle singole rime prevede che i versi vengano disposti secondo l'ordine alfabetico delle parole in rima, senza chiedersi se altre formule siano state seguite in passato e senza interrogarsi su quali altre nuove possano rendere migliori servigi ai lettori e agli studiosi. In questo volume si è invece pensato di offrire uno strumento che da oltre un secolo è quasi del tutto dimenticato e di affiancargliene un altro nuovissimo presentato qui per la prima volta. Il primo propone i versi interi al di sotto delle rime, ma conservando i terzetti (o le coppie) di versi disposti secondo l'ordine con cui si presentano nella successione del testo, mantenendo perciò unite e immediatamente percepibili le terne di parole in rima, la cui ricorrenza in luoghi anche distanti diventa così facilmente riconoscibile. Il secondo offre in cento tavole distinte il quadro rimico di ogni singolo canto, corredato da indicatori che consentono di individuare a colpo d'occhio le rime uniche (di cantica o di poema) e quelle che occorrono nei canti vicini. Una serie di indici speciali integra le cento tavole, così da valorizzare la varietà e le particolarità delle rime e dei rimanti utilizzati da Dante nel suo capolavoro. I due strumenti invitano a riflettere sulla struttura dell'opera e si accompagnano perciò al testo integrale del poema, qui proposto nell'edizione criticamente riveduta da Enrico Malato, che modifica il corrente testo Petrocchi alla luce dei più recenti e avanzati studi danteschi, e offre al pubblico una "nuova" Commedia, diversa in molti passaggi da quella finora comunemente letta. Il mondo delle corti, oggi come già in epoca tardoromantica e positivista, esercita una forte attrazione sui ricercatori e sul pubblico più ampio degli appassionati di storia. Sulla Milano di fine Trecento, in particolare, riverbera la suggestione del grande progetto politico di Gian Galeazzo Visconti, interrotto bruscamente dalla morte nel 1402. E così, soprattutto grazie al libro dedicato da Ezio Levi a Francesco di Vannozzo (1908), si è creata negli studi una vulgata convinta che la Milano del secolo XIV sia stata attraversata da un particolare fervore letterario in volgare, nel quale si sarebbero trovati a convergere molti poeti e letterati dell'Italia Settentrionale. Questa idea richiede oggi una sistematica e severa verifica, che riparta dalla documentazione primaria, e che porti all'attenzione degli studi su testi e problemi a lungo trascurati o completamente dimenticati.
